Jeff on the Missouri River

Last week marked a phased reopening from quarantine.  We were fortunate enough to be included with restrictions.  Either our guest had to be from the state or had to have quarantined for 14 days.  We were fortunate to have one of our long term guests and friend that was eager to get out on the water.  With some businesses remaining closed and restrictions still in place regarding shuttles I went along to help out.

We met our guest Jeff in Craig Montana to fish the Missouri River.  The sun shining yet the town ominously quiet the night before our first fishing day.  First thing in the morning it was time to hit the river.! I dropped Brooks and Jeff off, the river markedly more populated than the day before.  I met up with the guys at lunch for shore side elk burgers and to check in.  Fishing was a bit tough.

Two days of fishing full of bright sunshine and double shuttles yielded few fish.  The river did get super busy, everyone eager to enjoy a break from quarantine and feel a little normalcy.  I think sometimes there is a lesson to be had in the slow fishing days.  I think we need to remember the fun had throughout the day, the sights seen, and to maybe appreciate the beauty of the fish you did bring in.  We enjoyed the company, the change of scenery, evenings playing the guitar and singing badly.

I’ll close here, enjoy the beauty around you.  Things recently feel weird wherever you go so try smile often and remember to be kind.
