We had some tougher days and had to work real hard to have a 20 fish day in mid to late March. It was colder than normal and about the time bugs would show and the fishing was getting good, some crazy weather would throw us a curve ball. I spent quite a few days building fires at lunch time not to cook but to warm myself and my guests up a little.
April has been better. The last six days I guided we have had perfect weather and my clients have lit em up. My shoulders are still sore from re rowing banks and trying to put more trout in the boat but it has been rewarding lately. One day on the Mo my guys had 12 doubles landed and eight fish or so over 20 inches. My last two days on the root have produced 50 dry fly eats a day for my only angler/ single in my boat. When the fishing is rolling, guiding is much, much more enjoyable!
I wanted to thank all the guys who have been coming here in the Spring and braving the elements hoping for the best and realizing that we can have some great fishing here. You guys understand that sometimes we have to dress warm and expect the unexpected. A long- time client and good friend of mine who has seen all types of weather and conditions had some of the best dry fly fishing on consecutive days I have ever seen. He put in his time to see these epic conditions transpire. Its awesome when my guests see hard work and planning pay of by trout grabbing their flies.
Thanks for fishing with me and I hope to see you on the river bent rods and tight lines.
