The last 10 days I’ve had some pretty memorable fishing but the people I’ve spent time with have been the bomb!  I guided these ladies from the Seattle area for 8 or 9 years and it is great seeing them come back.  Before that I was able to take a friend, who lives in Oman, up to Rock Creek where he and another hard working Missoula fellow had an epic day.  60 fish day and a nice bull trout ate a salmon fly nymph that we chased down the river and luckily were able to get in the net.

My friend Joe and I were rowing our boats through a whitewater section on Rock Creek where we have to get our clients to walk around and I thought, “Man this is a pretty cool way to spend a day working.”  I don’t think there is a more scenic, wild river in Montana than Rock Creek.  As we were missing giant tank sized rocks and shooting through barely wide enough gaps in between these boulders I couldn’t help but think, man what a fun day!  I told my friend and boss Joe about my thoughts and he smiled and said he was thinking about the same thing.

The last 7 days I’ve been on the Missouri, Clark Fork at Deer Dodge, Rock Creek, Upper Bitterroot, Rock Creek a few days, and today we lit em up on the Blackfoot.  The fishing has been real good.
I took a shot at the Clark Fork at 12,200 CFS and it paid off not seeing another boat and watching hot rainbows jump and having a couple of elderly ladies, both born in the 1920’s, laughing, smiling, and doing what they love, catching trout on a river with friends!

I also was lucky enough to spend my day off with my wife, my kids, and our dogs on the Root.   I’d like to do that more often for sure!
