Well I stepped back into the guiding arena about 20 days ago and I finally feel like I’m getting back into shape for the most part.  My muscles and joints are feeling the burn of rowing the sticks these last few weeks, but it actually feels better on my body the more I row.

The fishing has been what it always is, good to excellent if conditions dictate, harder but productive when weather changes the dynamics.  This season it was warmer 2 weeks ago than the last 5 days but it looks to be warming up again.

I ran my hardboat on some skinny water this week, it worked well but I think I’ll want to use my raft more when the Root is flowing around 300 cfs at Darby.  Today it was only 260cfs but we ran a little lower on the Root and there was more water.  Bugs showed up later in the day since it was 18 degrees last night and clear.  Ice cleared from our rod guides around 1:00 pm and the fishing got going pretty well with bwo’s,  March browns, and some skwala’s getting wacked on top.  The dropper fishing has been excellent across the board.  You need to put it in the water column and be patient, leave it in there.  Anglers can’t be too cast happy and need to wait our there drifts when the water is at these temps.
Tight lines everyone!
