I’ve been guiding pretty much every day lately and have had some long time clients and more importantly good friends with me.  I am lucky to have been out with Jeff, Shannon, Dana, Bob, Fred, Matt, Luke, Jake, Travis, Sheila, Laura, Bill, Chuck, Allan and Jim recently.  In the last week or so I have had some awesome company who knows me.  When you have people in your boat that are friends first and guests second, you can be your self sometimes!!

My good friend Matt Reinhard

If the fishing is slow I sometimes still turn into the grumpy robot guide trying to produce fish numbers, it sounds like this.  “Cast 2 feet off the bank, mend, mend strip, pull it back towards us two more feet,” “Shit you missed, recast, mend , Ok right bank , 1 O’clock, Mend, get ready, its gonna happen”  I command,  “Set Set Set, THAT WASN’T BOTTOM,  that was a fish!!”  “Next time set it, don’t think”  I blurt out.  I’m getting older and more crotchity or something.

I want all these guys to catch fish and have fun, and they have a lot more fun  when catching fish. They have heard all of my boring stories and jokes before.  I want to see RODS BENT!  But I probably need to mello out when it isn’t happening as good, bugs aren’t out, weather isn’t perfect, as they have seen it in the past.

We’ll it is my day off today and my wife and kids want to float the the Clark Fork River.   We’ll look for mushrooms, catch a few fish, watch eagles/osprey, just plain chill out.  My wife and daughter will row the boat.

I’m one lucky man having the awesome family, job, friends, outfitter, our dogs, and everything else around us that we should always embrace and never take for granted.

It’s going to be another perfect day.

Peace everybody!
