Hey friends we haven’t posted/updated in a while so here is a quick report with some late summer early fall 2024 photos.
We had unseasonably hot weather/ drought in July prompting statewide fishing restrictions and closures. I didn’t feel like pressuring the resource as a personal decision so we postponed our guide trips until mid to late August when the nights got longer/ cooler and the water temperatures of our rivers dropped. We also had a big forest fire a stones throw away from Stevensville billowing smoke into the air for 3 weeks. These conditions were also hazardous to the health of our guide staff.
Currently the rivers seem healthy, the trout look great and I haven’t witnessed any distress or mortality personally. Some rain came and the fall is here, let the healing begin. The fishing and dry fly action has been good with hekubas, mahogony, BWO’s showing and a few lingering tricos with hoppers in the afternoon. We head to the Missouri next week for some fall streamer and dry fly opportunities.
We recently had some awesome groups here that went to the Pearl Jam concert in Missoula, the Darby rodeo, and a few other local events.
Thank you everyone for keeping Troutzoola Rolling.
