Thank you rain dancers for the precipitation the last two months. The recent fishing has been some of the best fishing we’ve had in the last 10 years. Our son Pride Jessen is guiding for us and some friends/ outfitters. He’s doing awesome. Thanks Jake, Pat, Brandon, Chase, Eric, and a couple other outfitters that are putting Pride to work, he’ll work his butt off for you!
All of our guides have been helping us a bunch and also doing a great job. Thanks Bobby, Drew, Alex, Kevin, Donny, and Joe for your’ hard work.

I rowed almost every day the last two months, and these old shoulders/elbows/ and back are feeling it. I’m kinda semi retired (Let the young guns row) but had to get on the sticks recently. We stacked these days together from the MO, Bitterroot in May, to the Blackfoot, Clark Fork and the Root this June knowing that our fishing might get tough in mid July/ August. The lower Clark Fork had some epic mayfly days, upper clark had good streamer, dropper fishing. The Blackfoot had killer salmon fly/ golden stone fishing. The Missouri between Craig and Cascade had excellent pmd and caddis fishing. Just recently with the rain the Bitterroot has been money with big green drakes, PMD’s, and goldens.

The last couple of seasons mid July through August our rivers have been too warm. Last year the Blackfoot was the lowest I’ve seen it in 40 years. We deciced to load up and fish a bunch from March – Early July and then play it by ear so to speak. With all the recent rain and snow in late June and the first couple of days in July all of our rivers currently look excellent. I feel like this year our water conditions are greatly improved and we should be good here for the next 3 weeks anyway optimally.

Thanks again to all of our good friends who keep coming back to spend these days with us, we really appreciate all of you. The Jeff’s, Garrett, Jimmy G, Don, Keith, Dan, Bill, William, Rick, Teresa, and a bunch of others.
Hope to see you again
Enjoy your Summer and our country’s 250th Independence day. We hope to see you and hello from everyone at Troutzoola, “Brooks, Sandy, Pride, Logan” and all of our guides. #Mtriverfamily
